What is the best way to deal with a long, frustrating string of outdraws and bad beats when playing tight and in need of money?
Since Black Friday I haven't been playing much. I don't have a bankroll anymore. Sometimes Ill take a hundred or two play at a local casino and play pretty tight when I want to try to make some money. Last night I was playing 1/2 NL I get AKo UTG. Most of the type of players at my table are the ones who would call a standard raise with ATC, and the guy on the button was raising every time he was on the button. So I decided to limp planning to reraise all in with a $100 stack. The guy to my left raised to $10 and 4 others called when it came back to me I shoved all in trying just to take down a $53 pot preflop. Everyone folds except for the BB with $50 behind. BB calls with 65o and spikes a 6 on the river. She said, "I HAD TO call. I have to take a chance with so much money in the pot since everyone else folded." I shake my head. I rebuy for another $100. A few hands later I pick up QQ OTB. The guy in the HJ raised to $8. It folds to me. I reraise to $30. It folds to the BB who shoves all in. I was scared of AA or KK but I called. The guy flips over AQo, so I have him dominated. He spikes an A on the turn and I left really pissed off. Why would someone 4-bet AQo?? That is insane in my mind!! I just can't seem to win anymore no matter how tight and careful I play. My monster hands always seem to have a way of getting outdrawn. And the bad play by my opponents are getting rewarded. Taking a break won't work. I don't play that often anymore to take a break. I just don't know what to do anymore. I think the Poker Gods hate me. I don't think I play bad when I play. I've had lots of training. Any advice? |

Phil Helmuth talks about how to pick up easy money in the mid level rounds by raising 2 1/4-2 1/2 times the BB
over and over again, while folding when reraised. I have encounted a league player that plays this style the entire game and is very successful at it. What strategy would you use to combat/counter this type of play? |

I play a lot of tournaments at Foxwoods Ct. 4 out of last 5 times, i get all my chips in pre flop with pocket aces, and get beat. this happens at various stages. Am I wrong, trying to get all in preflop in a tournament?
